How the system works
System Architecture
If you're a non-techy you might want to get your CTO or web developer to read this as well.
The platform is written in java. Our media storage and delivery is outsourced and we run clustered, load balanced server farms, in multi geographic locations - ask any of our competitors about their system architecture - it isn't in the same league.
New Revenue Streams
As well as enabling labels and artists to sell conventional products an important part of our thinking is giving you additional ways of making money from the visibility your acts are generating. For example, from Q2, 2007 onwards you'll also be able to make money from
- advertising - we'll pass advertising revenue onto labels and bands that their shops generate
- mobile content - fans will be able to create realtones from their own mp3s from your shop
- virtual Shop space - bigger bands can sell space in their shops to smaller bands
Technical Interfaces for 3rd parties
For 3rd parties wishing to use the system we can offer a range technical API's, to enable them to utilize all or part of the content from the acts that use the platform. So for example, you might be a social networking site, venue owner or merchandiser with your own website who either wants to sell the content from the bands already using the platform, or create a community of new bands. We can enable you to do this.
